With only a couple of months left to go for the tournament, a few players have already joined the competition bracket for the upcoming edition. Here’re some of the players who will be in action and the reasons why you might want to book the ATP Argentina Open tickets soon enough.
Leading the draw is the Austrian No. 1 Dominic Thiem, who is leading the resurgence in the next generation players. The 24-year-old has won eight singles titles in his career already and has broken into the top 10 without any major difficulties.
He is unarguably among the most consistent players on the tour, which is reflected in his game. Even though he has had a rough spell just like any other player, he has managed to retain his spot in top 10 with an absolute ease.
In 2017, he won the Rio Open and back it with a couple of runner-up feats in Madrid Masters and Barcelona Open. He was also the semifinalist at Roland Garros, where he lost to Nadal. When he comes to Bueno Aires next in 2018, he is going to be among the top favourites to win the tournament.
He has already achieved this feat here in 2016 and watching him do it again wouldn’t be a surprise.
Another top 10 player to have joined the pool is the Croat Marin Cilic, who was the runner-up in Wimbledon 2017. He also made it to the semifinal in Shanghai Rolex Masters and ATP Tokyo, the ranking points from which helped him retain his grip in the top 10.
His other feats include a winning run in Aegon Championships and a superb performance in Roland Garros and Italian Open.
Joining these two big guns is a very talented player, yet had a rather disappointing spell in 2017. It’s the former World No. 6 and a fan favourite Gael Monfils, he was troubled with injuries towards the end of the season, owing to which he was forced to miss a couple of big tournaments.
In addition to this, he also failed to win a singles title in the course of the season. The closest he came was in Aegon International, where he lost to Novak Djokovic in the final.
The Frenchman is capable of winning big matches as he showed in 2016. Maybe, we will see him get back to his former glory in the 2018 ATP Season.
With such an interesting mix of players, the 2018 Argentina Open is surely going to be an exciting event to follow. Stay tuned with us for latest updates on this front.
