The 2019 edition of the Sydney International Tennis competition for both, women and men, kick-starts from January 6 with the final to be played on January 12. Player List for 2019 Sydney International Tennis:

Simona Halep will start off as a favourite, having finished the previous season as the top-ranked player despite missing out on the WTA Finals. She will be joined by defending champion Angelique Kerber, and the likes of Sloane Stephens and Naomi Osaka, both of whom have won the US Open in the past.

What Happened at the 2018 Sydney International Tennis?

Daniil Medvedev and Angelique Kerber will go into the Sydney International Tennis competition as the defending men’s and women’s singles champions.

Medvedev defeated Australia’s Alex de Minaur 1–6, 6–4, 7–5 to clinch his maiden ATP title while Kerber was a straight-set winner over Ash Barty.

Among others who pushed into the semi-finals included the fourth seeded Fabio Fognini and Frenchman Benoit Paire, both of whom were sent out before they could make the final. In the women’s section of the draw, Daria Gavrilova and Camila Giorgi were the other semi-finalists.

Some of the others who participated in the previous edition of the Sydney International Tennis include Adrian Mannarino, Gilles Muller and Garbine Muguruza. Muguruza withdrew from the tournament before her quarter-final match because of injury issues.
