Elina Svitolina v Daria Gavrilova Head to Head

Svitolina holds an imposing 6-2 lead over her Australian adversary, defeating her in their last five encounters. This is set to be their first meeting on the grass surface and the two ladies last met in the 2019 Indian Wells.

Svitolina Coming in with Poor Form

Svitolina, who won the WTA Finals last season, has had a pretty disappointing year so far. With a win-loss record of 14-11 and zero singles titles, the Ukranian is in dire need of a good run.

She had a promising stint at the start of the season, reaching the quarterfinal in the Australian Open and later, the semifinal in Doha, Dubai, and Indian Wells. That is where she garnered most of her wins before incurring a slump on the clay courts.

As for the grass swing, she is 0-2, losing her opening games in Birmingham and Eastbourne, surprisingly to Margarita Gasparyan and Alize Cornet. Nonetheless, Svitolina has always been a player of impeccable calibre, having already made it to the top five.

At the same time, grass courts have never been her forte as she is yet to win a title on this surface.

Gavrilova, with an Equally Harrowing Run

Svitolina can seek some comfort from the fact that Daria Gavrilova has lost 15 matches this season while winning just six. The 25-year-old Aussie has had spells where she never made it past the first rounds despite consecutive attempts.

Her grass court preparations involved her participating in the Eastbourne International, where she lost in the second round to Shuai Zhang. As for her best run of the season, it came in Strasbourg, where she reached the quarterfinal.

Svitolina v Gavrilova Predictions & Tips

This is going to be a troublesome match for Svitolina. She has lost all of her matches on grass so far and hasn’t had a commanding run in the recent weeks. While Gavrilova is on the same boat, it will all come down to individual plays and momentum. Svitolina will start as the favourite here, given her superior experience.

Tip: Over 16.5 games in the match. (888Sport)
