Belinda Bencic v Kaia Kanepi Head to Head

This is the first meeting between the two players on the WTA Tour.

Bencic With a Solid Start

Last year’s Luxembourg Open runner-up Bencic kickstarted her Wimbledon campaign with a strong performance against the veteran Russian Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova. In an hour and 11 minutes, the Swiss won with 6-2, 6-3, courtesy of 25 winners. More impressively, she was quite efficient by maintaining a first-service win rate of 76% and making just five unforced errors.

Bencic has always enjoyed playing on grass, with one of her first titles coming in Eastbourne in 2015. This season too, she was the runner-up in Mallorca and later reached the second round in Eastbourne.

She has been in a decent form for most of the year, with penultimate runs in Madrid, Charleston, and Indian Wells. On her trail, she defeated many big names like Naomi Osaka, Angelique Kerber, and Simona Halep. Plus, she also won the title in Dubai – her first one in more than three years.

This season has marked a resurgence of sorts for Bencic, who was out of form for a while. She is clawing her way into the top 10, win by win and so far, her efforts are in the right path.

Kanepi, Fighting Hard

The 34-year-old Estonian had to defeat Stefanie Voegele in the opening match with 5-7, 7-5, 6-4 to reach the second round. The match went on for well over two hours and saw Kanepi play some of the most demanding tennis.

With a win-loss tally of just 10-4, she hasn’t been that active this season. However, in the few events she did participate, Kanepi managed to deliver positive results by her standards. In Roland Garros, she reached the fourth round and had a similar run in Charleston too.

Bencic v Kanepi Predictions & Tips

Even though there is an astronomical difference between the two players in age and experience, Bencic will still start as the heavy favourite here. She is in a very good form and certainly has the momentum to take on Kanepi and win comfortably.

Tip: Over 19.5 games in the match. (888Sport)
