Caroline Wozniacki v Shuai Zhang Head to Head

The tally between the two players is at 1-1 right now, with their last meeting taking place in 2016 in the Indian Wells Open. Zhang won that match in three sets.

Wozniacki Proves her Mettle

Following a very comfortable walkover in the first round against Sara Sorribes Tormo, Wozniacki faced her first real test against Veronika Kudermetova in the second round. That match demanded a lot from the Dane, who won the first set by a very slim margin in the tie-break.

The number 14 seed found her rhythm in the second set when she got a break early in the game. After that, it was a fairly straightforward ride to the win for the former US Open runner-up. On the whole, the match lasted for an hour and 49 minutes.

The Dane has had her fair share of problems this season on account of her injuries. The consequent loss in form took her out of the top 10 and now, she is aiming to get back in the rhythm once again. Her best run came in Charleston where she was the runner-up. This, however, was followed by consecutive losses in Madrid, Rome, and Paris in the first round.

Zhang Hoping to Cause a Stir

Currently doubles No. 9, Zhang has had a phenomenal time on the doubles circuit, including winning the women’s doubles title in the Australian Open and reaching the final in Miami with Samantha Stosur.

On the singles circuit, however, her win-loss record is 13-15. Most of those wins came in the 125K Series event in Anning, where she reached the final. That was the sole highlight of her season, as Zhang followed that spell with first-round exits in Madrid, Rome, and Strasbourg.

Even on the grass courts, she incurred similar results in Nottingham and Mallorca. In Eastbourne, however, she managed to reach the third round before falling to Alize Cornet.

Luckily, Zhang managed to retain that momentum in Wimbledon, starting with a straight-set win over Caroline Garcia. Following that win, she moved past the Belgian qualifier Yanina Wickmayer with 6-3, 6-2. The two-time Guangzhou Open winner now faces a stern test against Wozniacki.

Wozniacki v Zhang Predictions & Tips

This will be an interesting match to follow. Zhang is a strong opponent capable of delivering some quality results while Wozniacki is still on the course to find her groove. It wouldn’t be surprising if this one goes to three sets.

Tip: Over 19.5 games in the match. (888Sport)
