Andrey Rublev v Alexander Bublik Head to Head

The pair have never played each other. This will be the first meeting between the 21-year old Russian, and the player, one year his senior, who represents Kazakhstan.

Rublev Needs to Add Consistency to Big Results

Rublev remains a player capable of producing an upset on a big occasion, such as when he defeated Dominic Thiem in Hamburg, and Roger Federer at the Cincinnati Masters, the greatest win of his career to date. What the 21-year old now needs to learn is how to produce a string of results consistently in a tournament, one reason why the Umag Open in 2017 remains his one senior ATP title to date.

He did make the final in Hamburg, where he was beaten by the Georgian Nikoloz Basilashvili, and has since featured in three quarter finals – in Cincinnati, Winston-Salem, and St. Petersburg.

He got to the third round in Shanghai last week, but then went down to Alexander Zverev of Germany.

Best Year on Tour Yet for Bublik

World number 57 Bublik has had his best year on tour as a professional not only breaking into the world top 100 for the first time, but also reaching his first senior finals, the Hall of Fame Open in the US in July, where he lost to John Isner, and the Chengdu Open last month, when he was beaten by Pablo Carreno Busta of Spain.

In addition, he has won three tournaments on the Challenger tour – in Budapest, Pau, and Monterrey.

Most recently he was in action at the Shanghai Masters last week, but was beaten in the first round by Felix Auiger-Aliassime of Canada.

Rublev v Bublik Predictions & Tips

Rublev is the odds-on favourite to win this match at 4/9, whilst Bublik is priced at 28/13. Whilst Bublik has enjoyed a good year so far, Rublev is playing in front of his home fans, and that should help give him the edge in this encounter.
