Jannik Sinner v Miomir Kecmanovic Head to Head

The pair have never met before. This will be the first match between the 18 year old Italian and the Serb, two years his senior..

Sinner, Teenage Record-Breaker

At 18 years old, the Italian wildcard is the youngest player in this event by some way, but that does not seem to bother the young man, who has had the Italian crowds scrambling for tickets, in the slightest.

That is perhaps because he has already grown used in the past year to setting records. It began in Bergamo in Italy in February, when he became the first man born in the year 2001, to reach the final of a Challenger event. Moreover, he went on to win it. He went on to lose in the final in Ostrava, before claiming another Challenger title in August in Lexington.

Then, last month, at the European Open in Antwerp, he became the youngest player for five years to make the semi-finals of a senior ATP event, following that up by reaching the second round in Vienna, enabling him to break into the world’s top 100 for the first time.

And he has continued that strong form into this week, stunning the number two seed, Frances Tiafoe, in four sets on Tuesday, and then thrashing the Swede Mikhail Ymer on Wednesday. Thursday’s loss against Ugo Humbert of France was a formality because he had already qualified.

Kecmanovic, Sealed His Place on Thursday

Kecmanovic sealed his place in the semi-finals on Thursday with a comprehensive defeat of the Spaniard Alejandro Davidovich Fokina, who had previously caused some difficulty for the other two opponents in Group A. The Serb won their match in straight sets, with only the third set, which went to a tie-break, offering any sort of contest.

That gave him a second victory in the group after his win in straight sets over Casper Ruud on Tuesday. Although he was beaten in four sets by Alex de Minaur on Wednesday, the Australian then demolished Ruud to end any outside chance that the Norwegian had of making the last four.

Sinner v Kecmanovic Predictions & Tips
