Osorio in a Three-Set Tussle with Frech
It took Osorio two hours and five minutes but she was able to make it past her first round opponent, Magdalena Frech in three sets.
Having come into the main draw on the back of successive wins over Jamie Loeb and Kayla Day, Osorio was pushed to the limits before winning 6-3, 1-6, 6-4 against Frech. And till the very end, it looked like either player could have clinched a place in the second round.
In the end, it was Osorio who shrugged off two breaks of serves in the final set to overcome Frech in the 10th game, breaking her opponent for the seventh time in the encounter.
What was interesting to see and what’s something Osorio will need to do a lot better against Sakkari, form or no form, is serving under pressure. She faced seven break-points in the match and was broken every single time.
