Adrian Mannarino v Andreas Seppi Predictions & Preview

Two senior pros, 43rd-ranked Adrian Mannarino and world number 71 Andreas Seppi go head to head for the 10th time in their career, a match-up that goes all the way back to 2008. And the scoreline between them? It’s 5-4 in favour of Mannarino.

While this points to there being nothing to break the deadlock between these two players, the two matches on hard court surfaces have resulted in Seppi winning both. This gives him bit of an edge. Drill a bit deeper and Mannarino is 21-25 on hard court surfaces over the last two years, following which he crashed to a straight-set loss in the Doha opener.

Seppi has had a better record but he hasn’t played at the highest level all the time, including featuring at the Canberra Challenger where he lost his second round match in three sets.

All this points to it being a three-setter which could go either way.

Radu Albot v Marco Cecchinato Predictions & Preview

This will be the third match between Radu Albot and Marco Cecchinato with both previous matches having gone the way of the 46th-ranked Albot. Those, however, came on clay, nearly five to six years ago and at the Challenger circuit.

After a brilliant 2018 season, when Cecchinato reached a career-best of 16th in the world, his form fell away in 2019 as he fell to a 20-28 win-loss record there. On hard courts, he had struggled even earlier but lost 12 of his 17 matches in 2019.

Albot started off the year with the ATP Cup where he was representing Moldova and unfortunately for him, he fell to three successive losses. However, he will take a lot of confidence from his first ever ATP title he won at the age of 29 at the Delray Beach Open last year, which included a win over Nick Kyrgios.

He was also a semifinalist at Los Cabos and made the third round at the Paris Masters to end his last season. Albot starts a favourite here.

Kyle Edmund v Alejandro Davidovich Fokina Predictions & Preview

69th-ranked Kyle Edmund faces the 20-year-old Spaniard Fokina in their opening match after making poor starts to the season. Edmund fell in the first round at the Doha while Fokina won his first qualifying round match but fell in the second.

Edmund is also coming off an ordinary last season when he lost more than he won including a 12-11 win-loss on hard court. He did end the year on a high with three wins at the Davis Cup after having made the third round at the Paris Masters. Does that make him a favourite against the inexperienced Fokina?

Bookmakers reckon so but Fokina was one of the Next Gen players from the previous season, and while he lost all his three matches, he did win a couple of Challenger competitions in 2019. It remains to be seen how that translates into any kind of form here but he could take Edmund to a third.

John Millman v Michael Mmoh Predictions & Preview

48th-ranked John Millman will look to take his ATP Cup form into the Auckland Open when he takes on USA’s Michael Mmoh in their opener. And given how Mmoh’s fallen to 228th in the world despite having had a good 2018, Millman should have no trouble getting past his opponent.

These two did play once before in 2017, when Mmoh had beaten Millman but the Aussie has gone from strength to strength since then and should have no real worries getting past the American qualifier.

Tip: Millman to win in straight sets: 6/4 (Click here to get these odds with Unibet)
