The Day three of the 2020 Pune Open saw exciting action which ended in gains for some and losses for others. Prajnesh Gunneswaran is the only Indian remaining in the Men’s Singles category. He will have to play against Kwon Soon Woo, in the Round of 16 Match on Thursday.
Further, in the singles, Ricardas Berankis qualified for the quarter-finals after beating Cedrik – Marcel Stebe in a crisp 102 minutes match with a score of 7-6(2), 6-1. He is set to face Yuichi Sugita who qualified for the quarter-finals without playing a match since his opponent Troicki had to quit because of illness.
Ramkumar Ramanathan and Purav Raja also made it to the quarter-finals in the doubles category after overcoming a good resistance from Egor Gerasimov and Sumit Nagal. Their second round fixture will be against the strong duo of Mathew Ebden and Leander Paes.

This combination means that there will be at least one Indian in the semi-finals of the 2020 Maharashtra Open.
On the other hand, the defending champions, Rohan Bopanna and Divij Sharan have been eliminated out of the Pune Maharashtra Open 2020. Bopanna played with Arjun Kadhe and lost while Divij had played with Artem Sitak yesterday.

Further, into the action of the first round, the wild card entry Sasikumar Mukund was knocked out by Taro Daniel who had also been the winner of the ATP Challenger Tour held in Bernie. He lost by 2-6, 6-7(9) in a match that lasted approximately 100 minutes. Daniel’s next round match will be against James Duckworth.
