While Jabeur lost her only match during the pandemic lockdown, played at the Ultimate Tennis Showdown, she has had a year to remember. It hadn’t started off well with a first round crushing defeat at the Shenzhen Open early in the season but from there on she has taken off.
Needing to win a couple of qualifiers during the Hobart International, Jabeur made it to the second round where she stretched Garbine Muguruza to the third set tie-breaker before going down to her. However, her best showing came at the Australian Open where she surprised Johanna Konta, Caroline Garcia, Caroline Wozniacki and Wang Qiang to make it all the way to the quarterfinal.
At the Fed Cup, Jabeur won all her four singles matches in straight sets, arguably against lesser-pedigreed opposition and wrapped up the mini-season with another quarterfinal in Doha. That included a win over Karolina Pliskova in the third round.

McNally in Early Stages of Her Career
18-year-old McNally is just in her third year of tennis, and is coming off a couple of career-best Grand Slam performances. In both, the 2019 US Open and the 2020 Australian Open, McNally made it to the second round, beating Timea Bacsinzky and Samantha Stosur in those tournaments.
Between the Australian Open competition this year, she featured in Auckland, qualifying for the tournament with three victories before losing to Laura Siegemund in her opener.
McNally has a couple of lower-tier event titles under her belt but her best showing came at the Washington Open in 2019 where she reached the semifinal before going down to Camila Giorgi in the last-four stage.
