Arantxa Rus v Alison Van Uytvanck Head to Head
There is no history between the pair. This will be a first-ever meeting on tour.

Rus Into Cincinnati Main Draw For First Time
There is of course a change of venue and city for the Western & Southern Open, but it is the first time Arantxa Rus has made the main draw at the event since turning professional. It is an eyebrow-raising stat considering her longevity on the senior tour.
Rus has predominantly featured on the ITF circuit in the last few seasons after falling down the pecking order on the main stage, and she had a standout year on the second tier last year where she won 10 singles titles.
The Dutchwoman’s most notable result in 2020 is a semifinal in Monterrey where she was beaten handily by Elina Svitolina. She has tasted success though on doubles court at the Palermo Ladies Open with partner Tamara Zidansek.

Fourth Time is A Charm For Van Uytvanck
Just like Rus, Alison Van Uytvanck will make her main draw debut at the Cincinnati Open after three previous unsuccessful attempts, the last of which was a retirement in the first round of qualifying in 2018.
The ginger-haired Belgian suffered a straight sets demolition at the hands of Petra Martic in Palermo earlier this month in her first outing following tennis’ resumption, winning just three games. However, she did have a productive week in the Sicilian capital on the doubles court with her partner Greet Minen, where they reached the semis.
The 26-year-old won two titles on hard courts last year, issuing a reminder of how dangerous she can be on a fast hard court. Almost every player’s level on court is a mystery as tennis slowly returns, but we should expect some enticing action in store.
Rus v Van Uytvanck Prediction & Tip
Rus has warmed up nicely for this encounter with a couple of qualifying wins under her belt. Van Uytvanck on the other hand is known for overwhelming her opponents with searing pace on the forehand and she is a perennial danger on the surface. But the courts in New York are not as quick which could just give the Dutchwoman slightly more time to be reactive.
Tip: Rus to win: 8/11 (bet365)
