Amanda Anisimova v Jessica Pegula Head to Head
Anisimova and Pegula have never faced each other on the tour before. This will be the first-ever meeting between them at this level.

Local Girl Anisimova Coming off an Impressive Win
The 18-year-old American was handed a tough start when she was drawn against 11th seed Alison Riske in the first round. But she looked in control and hardly put a foot wrong in an impressive straight-sets victory. She would be looking to continue her fine form and make quick work of her less fancied opponent.
Anisimova is coming off a year where she played some amazing tennis in the first half of the year but had unfortunate luck with injuries in the second part.
In 2019, she won her maiden title at Bogota before making it to the last four at the Roland Garros. But fitness and a bereavement took its toll on the youngster who could only play five more events post the French Open.
She started the 2020 campaign with a semi-final run at Auckland.
Early exits from Doha, Australian Open and Dubai, however, halted her momentum. It would be interesting to see how far she can go in New York this week as she has the chance to break into the top 20 rankings once again.

Pegula Causes an Upset
Not many gave the 26-year-old American a chance when she was paired up against Jennifer Brady in the first round. But she dug deep to carve out an impressive win to cause an upset against a player who some thought might dish out a breakthrough performance.
Now it will be interesting to see if she can beat another higher-ranked fellow American.
Pegula won her maiden title at Washington last year and came close to repeating the feat when she reached the final at Auckland. She lost to Serena Williams on that occasion which started a weird coincidence of losing to American players in all WTA tournaments she has played this year.
Cincinnati is the fifth WTA tournament she is playing this year and she has gone out to an American in all the previous four. It will be interesting to see if the trend continues or Pegula can cause another upset.
Amanda Anisimova v Jessica Pegula Prediction & Tip
It is likely to be a close contest between the two American players. Anisimova will have to be careful considering the way Pegula dispatched off the high flying Brady. Anisimova is likely to have enough to overpower Pegula but the match can go to the distance.
Tip: Anisimova to win in three sets: 3/1 (bet365)
