Matteo Berrettini v Emil Ruusuvuori Head to Head
This is the first time the two players are meeting. However, they practiced together earlier this year ahead of the Indian Wells Masters, prior to its cancellation.

Berrettini Looking To Repeat Strong End to 2019
24 year-old Matteo Berrettini has come a long way very quickly in the last couple seasons. From making his ATP main draw debut in 2017 to winning his first ever title at the Swiss Open in Gstaad the following year, the young Italian went leaps and bounds in 2019.
Berrettini won his second ATP title at the Italian Open last summer on clay followed by a win on the grass courts of Stuttgart, a Halle 500 semi-final and already in the top 20 in the ATP rankings by Wimbledon 2019.
A loss at the hands of Roger Federer in the round of 16 was followed by ankle injury issues, but he returned strong for the last third of the year with a US Open quarter-final appearance and strong showings in the Asian and European indoor swings leading to a spot in London at the ATP Tour Finals.
The Italian did not have the best start to the 2020 season with an early loss in Melbourne and injury troubles seeing him miss much of the February tournaments. Berrettini will be hoping to rekindle his late 2020 form and get his confidence and results back to where they were.

Young Finn Ruusuvuori Breaks Into Top 100
Until very recently, Emil Ruusuvuori was an unknown entity ranked outside of the top 200 in the ATP rankings as recently as mid-late 2020. Strong performances on the ITF and Challenger circuits added him to the long list of Next Gen ATP stars to watch out for.
A flurry of good results earlier in the season saw him move up the rankings and he will break into the top 100 of the world rankings when they are updated next week.
In a clash of Next Gen stars in the opener against young American Sebastian Korda, the young Finn displayed a strong array of all round-skills to win in three tight sets. After being up a set and a break, Ruusuvuori witnessed a sudden dip in his form, as well as a surge from Korda, but was able to keep a calm head and scrape through in a deciding set.
Ruusuvuori’s coach Federico Riccoi is Italian and a close acquaintance of Berrettini and the Finn will be hoping he can bring some insight to assist him ahead of their clash.
Matteo Berrettini v Emil Ruusuvuori Prediction & Tip
Although Berrettini has not been much of a factor in the little tennis played in 2020, his form in late 2019 enabled him to break into the top eight of the ATP rankings has evidenced that he is very capable of strong results. Ruusuvuori looked strong in his opener, but he is up against a different opponent here. Expect him to put up a spirited fight, but will not be enough against Berrettini.
Tip: Berrettini to win in straight sets: 4/6 (bet365)
