Andy Murray v Milos Raonic Head to Head
This is the 13th meeting between the two players with Murray leading the head-to-head 9-3. Their last meeting was at the 2016 Wimbledon final which Murray won in straight sets. Murray has won their last eight consecutive meetings and interestingly, this head-to-head also has three walkovers.

New Look Raonic Looking To Go Deep
Former world number three Milos Raonic, with the “no haircut” look expressed more than he usually does in his press conference touching on various topics from no haircut since the Australian Open to his pandemic precautions and lifestyle.
What has not changed at all on the other hand, is the big serve. The Canadian has put on two stellar performances against Sam Querrey and Dan Evans and looked in ominous serving form.
While Querrey has been rusty for the last season or so, Evans has been in fine form, but had little to respond to the Canadian serve. As is well known, once the Raonic serve is clicking, he has always displayed confidence with other aspects of his game as well.
This was again evident, especially in his match against Evans.
A career that saw the Canadian reach the top five of the ATP rankings, as well as the Wimbledon final went off the rails in 2018 & 2019, largely due to recurring injuries and indifferent form.
Raonic looked sharp at the start of the year in Melbourne, defeating Stefanos Tsitsipas, eventually falling to eventual champion Novak Djokovic, and will be hoping his week here prior to the US Open involves a deep run.
With plenty of highly ranked players opting out and the seeds beginning to fall, Raonic will believe he can make inroads here ahead of the US Open next week.

Murray Still Alive After Two Next Gen Wins
The Andy Murray story keeps adding chapters to it and each as unbelievable as the previous one. In the era of the Big Three, one rarely thought as good as he was, that he would make it to the number one ranking in the world and he did in 2016.
Little did one think what followed would be as different as it could be and that the hip would limit it as much as it has and it did. With a long stint away from the game and an emotional farewell at the 2019 Australian Open, one never expected him to return after surgery and yet he did and won the European Open at Antwerp last Fall.
With the injury struggles resurfacing late 2019-early 2020, one was not sure which version of Murray would show up in New York, and despite a tough draw, he has managed to get the better of Frances Tiafoe and Alexander Zverev and here he is in the round of 16. Murray showed glimpses of old with some of his finest strokes and despite looking down and out at different times in both matches, his ‘never say die’ attitude saw him through.
It remains to be seen how well he recovers after these encounters, but if he remains healthy and fresh, it would not be wise to rule him out of a deep run this week anymore.
Andy Murray v Milos Raonic Prediction & Tip
While on paper, looking at the head-to-head, Murray has always started as a strong favorite, the situation is different since their last meeting. Both players are looking to get their careers back on track. Murray with all his injury woes of the last few years may have already overachieved as far as this tournament goes. Raonic, on the other hand will be hoping to get back to the consistent levels that once made him a Wimbledon finalist.
Expect a tight match and it will eventually come down to how much is left in the Murray tank to work with the Raonic serve. Raonic on the other hand will know that anything short of excellent serving will make it difficult for him to win this encounter. Murray will not go away easily, tired or not; but Raonic will be fresher and the serve seems to be firing on all cylinders this week.
Tip: Raonic to win: 8/13 (bet365)
