Stefanos Tsitsipas v John Isner Head to Head
The players have met once in each of the last three seasons, with Isner leading the head-to-head 2-1. Their most recent meeting was at the 2019 China Open, an ATP 500 tournament in Beijing, which was won by Tsitsipas.

Tsitsipas Looking to Capitalize on Strong Start
Stefanos Tsitsipas ended 2019 in prime form, as he was the winner of the year-end ATP Tour Finals. He came into the 2020 season with lofty expectations, but it did not get off to the best of starts for him.
His performance at the ATP Cup was far from optimal and it was followed by the Australian Open, where he faced an early loss against Milos Raonic. In addition, in Rotterdam, Tsitsipas lost in straight sets to an unexpected opponent in Aljaz Bedene.
Thereafter though, Tsitsipas hit a good run, defending his title at Marseille without dropping a set and made the final in Dubai again before being runner-up, this time to Novak Djokovic.
The fourth seed looked in excellent form in the opener against veteran Kevin Anderson, dropping only four games in his opener.

Isner Serve Keeping Him Going
Ranked within the top ten of the ATP rankings at the end of 2018, it was a mix of injuries and poor form for John Isner in 2019 whose ranking fell to number 20 by the end of the year.
2020 did not got off to the best of starts for big serving Isner either. He had a dismal ATP cup where he lost all his matches, and despite a much improved semi-finalist performance at the ASB Classic leading to the Australian Open, a recurring foot injury in his third round match at the Australian Open resulted in Isner pulling out of the tournament.
An early loss at the New York Open followed, but a runner-up showing at Acapulco evidenced that he was getting back in the groove just prior to the pandemic.
The American has had some tough opponents this week, in Next Gen Polish Hubert Hurkacz and veteran Aussie John Milman, but has pulled through on both occasions. Isner will be hoping the serving momentum continues and can lead him to a deep run as the week progresses.
Stefanos Tsitsipas v John Isner Prediction & Tip
Although Isner leads the head-to-head, Tsitsipas has evolved as a player immensely over 2018-2019, and begins this match as a strong favorite.
While a lot depends on the Isner serve which on its day can be impenetrable, the young Greek has developed a strong array of skills and should be able to tackle the monstrous serve. If Tsitsipas brings the level of play he did in the opener, it is difficult to envision Isner winning this battle.
Expect Tsitsipas to win in three sets.
Tip: Tsitsipas to win in three sets: 3/1 (bet365)
