Laura Siegemund v Paula Badosa Head to Head

This will be the third meeting between the pair with both of them having won one match each. Their first-ever meeting was back in 2014 at an ITF event. And Siegemund won in three sets on that occasion. They met once again last year, this time on the clay courts of Karlsruhe. And it was the Spaniard who prevailed.

Siegemund Knocks Out 13th Seed Martic

The 32-year-old German was staring right down the barrel when she found herself a set and a break-point down in her second round match against Julia Goerges. But she somehow managed to find her way out of that situation and went on to win the match.

And next up she was up against the 13th seed Petra Martic in the third round.

Once again Siegemund showed her ability to absorb the pressure and play the big points well. She lost out narrowly in the first set after saving multiple breakpoints but the German did not let that affect her and come back stronger in the second set.

After losing the first set 7-6, she levelled the match by winning the second 6-3. And on a day where both her first and second serve percentage were down compared to her career average, she incredibly won the third and deciding set to love.

This result has got her to the fourth round, her best-ever showing at a Grand Slam. Another win would get her to a second quarter-final appearance this season after Auckland at the beginning of the year. She is currently ranked 66 in the world and is likely to break back into the top 50 after this run.

Badosa Continues Her Phenomenal Run on Clay

The Spaniard has won six out of her last seven matches, all on clay and has beaten four higher-ranked opponents during this time.

This week in Paris, she was up against the 2018 finalist Sloane Stephens in the second round and then the 2017 champion, Jelena Ostapenko in the third round. Very few would have predicted the 22-year-old to go through. But not only has she progressed but has also achieved her best-ever showing at the Grand Slam.

Against Ostapenko, she got broken in the very first serve of the game but from that point onward did not put a foot wrong.

Badosa hit seven aces and broke her opponent five times to win the match in straight sets, controlling the match really well from the baseline and not giving the Latvian any chance of a comeback in the match.

Despite conceding eight breakpoints, she only allowed Ostapenko to break her one more time.

The 22-year-old is surely going to see her new career-best ranking soon as she was knocked out from Paris at the qualification stage last year. It will be interesting to see if she can continue her impressive run of results on the red soil and reach the last eight.

Laura Siegemund v Paula Badosa Prediction and Tip

Both the players have done well to have reached this stage of the tournament. They have shown that they can beat more fancied opponents on their day. This is likely to be a close contest which will go the distance. But just on the basis of her recent form, Badosa has the advantage.

Tip: Badosa to win in three sets: 3/1 (bet365)
