Alejandro Davidovich Fokina v Benjamin Bonzi Head to Head
This will be the second match between Fokina and Bonzi, having earlier met at the Sevilla Challenger last year. Fokina had won that encounter in straight sets.

Qualifier Davidovich Fokina Finishes off Khachanov
Davidovich Fokina had come into this tournament with some form under his belt, having reached the semifinal in the first edition of the Cologne Open and the quarterfinal in the second. Which is why he was an overwhelming favourite in both his qualifying matches and he won them relatively easily too.
What he wasn’t was a favourite in his opening round match against the 2018 Paris Masters winner Karen Khachanov but the way the match went it looked like his Russian opponent was playing catch up all the while.
A break in the sixth game of the opening set helped Fokina wrap up a 1-0 lead, but Khachanov briefly ignited the kind of spark one needs in situations like these. He broke the Spaniard two times to clinch the set and push it into the decider.
Alejandro Fokina wasn’t done though and showed he is made of sterner stuff. The Spaniard took an immediate 2-0 lead in the third set, went 4-2 ahead before breaking Khachanov yet again to finish off the encounter in three.
Having won six of his eight matches indoors this season, Davidovich Fokina will go into his second round match as a huge favourite.

Bonzi Wastes No Time on Coria
Bonzi might be ranked 176th in the world at the moment and was playing an opponent in the top 100 but that didn’t stop him from starting off a heavy favourite. And he played like one too, with the wild-card crushing Federico Coria 6-2, 6-1 to move into the second round.
The only time Coria looked like he was a part of the encounter was in the first two games of the opening set when he pushed Bonzi on his serve and then himself held to love. Once the 24-year-old Bonzi held his serve in the next game, there was no looking back for him as he broke the Argentine on four separate occasions without return to clinch the encounter.
The Frenchman had entered the tournament as a wild-card with some form riding on his shoulders at the lower level. This included a couple of Futures titles wins and a couple of Challenger semifinals of which he made it to the final once too.
Having now made that step up, it would be interesting to see how he goes about his business against an in-form opponent – can he push the Spaniard into a third?
Davidovich Fokina v Bonzi Prediction and Tip
Bonzi is 11/4 to win this but the more interesting market here is the match handicap for games. We think Bonzi has a chance at +4.5 games.
Tip: Match Handicap Games Bonzi +4.5: 4/6 (bet365)
