Moldovan Radu Albot made history at Delray Beach in 2019 , when he became the first from his country to win an ATP Tour title. The World No. 77 Albot, was ranked in the top 40 in the world after his ATP title in early 2019.
After a dismal 2020, Albot started the 2021 season with two consecutive defeats but got into his groove at the Australian Open, knocking out 12th seed Roberto Bautista Agut in the first round, and Australia’s Christopher O’Connell in the next before going down to Norway’s Casper Ruud in the Round of 32.
Another good run followed for Albot at the Singapore Open defeating top seed Adrian Mannarino before falling to Alexander Bublik in the semi-finals. An early loss in Dubai last week may not have been ideal preparation for Miami, but Albot almost upset Roger Federer here in 2019 and with the surface suiting his game well, he will be hoping for a good run here this week and next.

Korda On The Rise
It has been a good start to the season for 20-year-old Sebastian Korda, who has broken into the top 100 in the world, currently ranked number 87.
Korda kicked off the season with a run to a first ATP Tour final at Delray Beach, with wins over Tommy Paul, John Isner and Britain’s Cameron Norrie in the semifinal. Hubert Hurkacz ended Korda’s hopes of winning a maiden Tour title as he defeated the American 6-3, 6-3 in the final.
Son of former men’s No. 2 Petr Korda and former women’s No. 26 Regina Rajchrtova, Korda did well thereafter to win the ATP Challenger in Quimper, France and make a mark at both Montpellier and Dubai where he defeated veterans in Jo-Wilfried Tsonga and Marin Cilic.
The American will look to continue his run on the ATP Tour and join the likes of many other earmarked ‘ Next Gen’ players to watch out for in the years ahead.

It has been a mixed season for the experienced Albot so far, but Korda has been getting better with every tournament. Expect a close contest, but the young Korda should prevail in a decider.
