Yannick Hanfmann v Lorenzo Sonego Head to Head
The pair have never played each other before in the main draw of an ATP event but other than that there have been three matches between these two players. Two of them came at the Challenger level and with both players having won one, while the third was one by Sonego in the qualifiers of the 2019 Munich Open.

Hanfmann Beats Another Italian in the Second Round
Hanfmann’s reward for beating the number six seed, Tommy Paul of the USA in the first round, was a meeting with another Italian, Marco Cecchinato on Thursday.
It proved to be a comfortable afternoon’s work for the German.
The first set went with serve initially, although Cecchinato consistently had problems holding his, and the pressure finally told in the eleventh game as the Italian surrendered the advantage to the German who then served out .
Cecchinato then dropped his opening two service games of the second set, and, unable to put any pressure on the German’s serve, he was always struggling after that. Forced to serve to stay in the match, instead he meekly dropped his serve once more.

Sonego Ends Simon’s Comeback
Having been given a bye in the first-round Sonego was paired with Giles Simon of France on Thursday, back on tour after taking a little time way from tennis for a mental health break.
The first set was full of unforced errors and dropped serves on both sides of the night. Sonego started the trend by dropping his serve first, but he was soon back on level terms.
Simon then dropped his serve, recovered the break, but surrendered his own serve again, giving the Italian the first set.
Sonego then took control of the match in the second set, breaking the world 63 in the fourth game and again two games later. He clinched the match on his second match point.
Hanfmann v Sonego Prediction and Tip
Hanfmann has done well to get this far, but he is playing a man ranked 71 places above him in his own backyard and on his favourite surface of clay. Sonego would appear to have the odds stacked in his favour.
Tip: Sonego to win: 3/5 (bet365)
