Egor Gerasimov v Guido Pella Head to Head
Their only previous meeting came as recently as the Cagliari Open earlier this year when they met in the first round of that competition and Gerasimov had routed Pella 6-4, 6-0 to move into the round of 16.

Gerasimov Hoping to Better Clay Record
Despite having made it to second round at Cagliari and Barcelona this season, Gerasimov’s record on clay is anything but exemplary.
In fact, coming into this season, Gerasimov hadn’t won a single match on this surface in main draws of events, so those wins earlier this year would come as some kind of a relief.
At Cagliari, Gerasimov fell in straight sets to Aljaz Bedene but not before he had put up some sort of a fight. And then he overcame Jo-Wilfried Tsonga in the 2021 Barcelona Open but failed to put up any kind of a show against Jannik Sinner in the second round.
The good news for Gerasimov is he now faces an opponent whom he had only recently defeated on clay but more importantly one who is struggling for any kind of form.

Pella 1-5 This Season
30-year-old Pella hasn’t had the best of times since the start of the previous season and those struggles have reflected in his win-loss record since the start of 2020. Last year, he won just seven of his 17 matches, having finished 3-6 on clay.
And if he would have hoped for a better showing this season, things haven’t quite gone right.
Pella started off with a 1-1 win-loss record at the ATP Cup but since then he has played in four tournaments and lost the openers at all four. Three of those have come on his favourite surface, clay, where the former Munich Open finalist won only one set in all.
And while he now takes on a player who has himself not had the best of times on dirt, Pella will need to turn things around drastically to get it going in his favour.
Gerasimov v Pella Prediction and Tip
Interesting to note both players are starting out 10/11 to win this despite the disparity in form. Would have to go with Gerasimov to come through in this one.
Tip: Gerasimov to win: 10/11 (bet365)
