Can Martincova Find Some Form Again?
Martincova divides her time between the ITF circuit, where she has won four titles, two of them on clay, and the main tour, where she has now reached her highest ever world ranking.
2021 did not start well for the Czech player who failed to qualify for the Australian Open, but after qualifying for Lyon, made the second round there, and then went one better in Dubai,
Since then, there have been second round appearances in Miami and Bogota, but she has lost her last three matches, all on clay. She was beaten in the first round in Charleston and the Challenger tournament in Saint Malo and then failed to qualify for Rome last week.

Jani, a Hungarian Qualifier
Jani has spent the vast majority of her career on the ITF circuit, where she has won 22 singles titles, all but two of them on clay.
She does not often appear on the main WTA tour, but does have a doubles final appearance to her name. losing the Brazil Open in 2016 with her much better -known compatriot Timea Babos. And, off the back of that, she was given a wild card entry to the Rio Olympics that same year to play doubles with Babos.
It has been two years since Jani’s last singles success but she has already won an ITF doubles event this year and been beaten in another final.
This is a rare appearance for Jani in the main draw of a senior WTA event and she got here by beating first Aleksandra Krunic of Serbia, and then Jaqueline Adina Cristian of Romania, both matches going to three sets.
Martincova v Jani Prediction and Tip
Martincova has not been in good form recently, but she will still start the clear favourite against an opponent for whom this is a rare appearance in a main WTA draw and who had to come through two three set matches just to qualify.
