Cori Gauff v Wang Qiang Head to Head

Winner of one WTA title in her career, Gauff now has the chance to double her tally as she takes on China’s former world number 12. And she has gotten herself to the final by taking down Katerima Siniakova in three sets.
In a match that lasted two hours and 10 minutes, Gauff won 7-5, 1-6, 6-2 to seal the title-decider.
Playing against someone who had taken out Serena Williams was never going to be easy but a high-risk game with her first serve paid rich dividends. Gauff slammed five aces and won 65% of her first serve points to get herself closer to the win.
And while both players got themselves four breaks of serves, it was Gauff’s couple of breaks in the final set that decided the encounter in her favour. She had earlier usurped Kaia Kanepi, Camila Giorgi and Amanda Anisimova in the first three rounds before needing this three-setter.

Qiang Doubles Her Win Count 2021
Before the start of this competition, Qiang had won a mere four matches across the entire season. A straight-set rout of Sloane Stephens took the Chinese player to a whopping eight wins this calendar year.
Qiang won her semifinal 6-2, 7-6 (3) to march it into the final here.
Having defeated Petra Martic in her quartefinal, Qiang came back from 1-5 down in the second set, faced three set-points before forcing a tie-breaker with back to back breaks.
In the end, Qiang also frittered away two match-points before winning off the third.
Earlier this season, Qiang’s only wins had come into this encounter on the back of three successive defeats and an overall 11 losses all year. Can she now more than her double her win tally for the season?
