Dusan Lajovic v Ricardas Berankis Head to Head
They are 1-1 on the Tour from their previous two main draw meetings. While Berankis won a Round of 32 contest in Moscow in 2017, Lajovic won a Round of 16 match in Doha in 2019. They also met at a qualifying round at the Miami Open in 2014, which was won by Lajovic.

Fifth seed Dusan Lajovic is having a torrid time this season and comes to Belgrade on the back of six consecutive defeats. The last time he won a match was on March 26 in the second round of the Miami Open against Ernesto Escobedo.
Since that win against the American, Lajovic lost to Frances Tiafoe in the third round of the Miami Open, Daniel Evans in the first round in Monte-Carlo, Federico Delbonis in the second round in Belgrade-1 (where he received a first round bye), Mackenzie McDonald in the first round in Munich, Denis Shapovalov in the Round of 64 in Madrid and John Millman in the first round in Rome.
The 2019 Monte-Carlo Masters runner-up is 6-13 this season. He had a pretty good Australian Open campaign reaching the fourth round of the tournament before falling to Alexander Zverev.
The 30-year-old, who won his only ATP title on clay in Umag in 2019, has a 76-79 record on the surface, but is 0-5 in 2021.
One of Lajovic’s other major accomplishments this year was a win against Daniil Medvedev in the Round of 32 in Rotterdam. The Serb will be hoping to end the losing streak on Sunday and get back to winning ways.

Berankis Will Look To Cause an Upset
Facing Lajovic in the first round in Belgrade will be Lithuania’s Ricardas Berankis, who is 6-6 in 2021.
The Lithuanian, ranked No. 90 in the world, had a decent start to the year reaching the Round of 16 at Melbourne-1, by defeating Sumit Nagal and Jason Kubler in the first two rounds, but fell to Jiri Vesely in the pre-quarterfinal match.
The former No. 50, Berankis beat Nagal again in the first round at the Australian Open, but couldn’t go past Karen Khachanov in the Round of 64.
The 30-year-old Lithuanian then reached the second round of an ATP 1000 event for the fourth time in his career, when he defeated Federico Gaio in the Round of 128 in Miami, but he failed to reach the third round yet again, going down to Jan-Lennard Struff.
On clay, Berankis’s less preferred surface where he has a 10-24 career record, the Lithuanian is 2-3 this year, with his only wins coming in the first rounds in Marbella and Munich.

Lajovic is seeded fifth, ranked 50 places higher than Berankis and is a solid clay court player, yet he will be under immense pressure having lost the last six. The Lithuanian will fancy his chances against the struggling Serb, so expect this to be a close contest with a third set deciding the winner.
