Caroline Garcia v Zarina Diyas Head to Head
Garcia and Diyas have never met before this. Monday’s first-round match will be their first official meeting of any kind on tour.

Garcia Targets Another Strong Showing in Strasbourg
As the lone former champion in the draw, Caroline Garcia is the most decorated player in the 32-player list at the 2021 Internationaux de Strasbourg.
Garcia also made a subsequent semifinal appearance in 2017 and finished runner-up in the last staging of the event in 2019 before this week’s return of the tournament on the calendar.
The 27-year-old has been on a decline in recent months culminating in her lowest ranking in eight years. She sits at 53 in the world and lost her status as the top-ranked Frenchwoman to Fiona Ferro.
Garcia has made necessary adjustments in an effort to stay competitive. She decided to stop being coached by her father and currently trains at the Rafael Nadal Academy. That change came just before the Italian Open, where Garcia lost to Veronika Kudermetova in the second round.
However, she enjoyed a productive week in Parma, in the northwest of Italy last week. Garcia reached the quarterfinals of a WTA tournament for the first time this season, and it was only the third time this year she managed to string back-to-back wins at an event.

Diyas Struggles for Clay Uplift
After making a promising start to the hardcourt season during the first quarter, Zarina Diyas has hit a snag of late. She lost in the second round of Charleston to fellow countrywoman Yulia Putinstseva.
A return to the European clay couldn’t lift her fortunes as she made a first-round exit at the hands of Kaia Kanepi. Diyas’ low ranking meant she did not qualify for an automatic main draw slot in the WTA 1000 event in Madrid.
And after garnering a morale-boosting win over 2020 French Open quarterfinalist Martina Trevisan in the first round of qualifying, she was beaten in straight sets by Kateryna Kozlova thereafter – a player ranked over 60 spots below her in the rankings.
Diyas does have a decent record in Strasbourg in recent years. She has made two quarterfinal appearances in five previous visits.
Garcia v Diyas Prediction and Tip
Diyas’ record on the surface is really concerning. Add to the fact that she hasn’t played a match since losing in the qualifiers of the Madrid Open (almost a month ago), then you worry this could turn into a very chastening loss.
Tip: Under 19.5 games in the match: 5/6 (Click Here to Bet with bet365)
