Jan-Lennard Struff v Facundo Bagnis Head to Head
The pair have met once before, on the clay of Dortmund, Bagnis winning in straight sets. That though was almost a decade ago and has little bearing in Thursday’s match.

Struff engineered one of the biggest surprises of the championship so far to beat the world number seven, Andrey Rublev of Russia, a man tipped by some as a dark horse for the title.
It was a tough encounter with Struff taking a two set lead only to be pegged back by the Russian before the German finally sealed the win in a five set battle.
All that was yet to come when Struff broke the Russian in his opening service game, and held on to the advantage to take the first set.
Struff was the first to drop his serve in the second set, and, with Rublev serving for the set, it looked like h would level the match, But having saved five break points, he could not prevent Struff converting the sixth and it eventually went to a tie-break,
And it was the German who took that to establish a two set lead.
The Russian though was far from beaten, and he hit back in the third set, forcing a break of his won against the German. He made hard work of wrapping up the set, however, and only managed it ion his sixth set point.
The fourth set was less dramatic and went with serve until the seventh game when Struff was broken, And, when he was broken again and the match went into a fifth set, the momentum all seemed to be on Rublev’s side.
However, crucially the German broke Rublev in the third game of the final set, and that in the end proved to be decisive. Rublev had two break back opportunities, could not take them and Struff served out for a famous victory after nearly four hours on court.

Bagnis Benefits from Kind Draw
Bagnis who reached his first senior fianl as a professional in Match, losing in Santiago to the local favourite Christian Garin, was the recipient of a favourable first round drawn, which pitted him against the French wildcard, Benjamin Bonzi, the world number 116.
But the Argentine took full advantage of the hand that fate dealt him, easing to a comfortable three set victory.
Bagnis actually begam badly, dropping the opening service game of the match, but he bided his time, levelled midway through the set, and then broke his French opponent once more top take the set.
Bonzi dropped his serve once more halfway through the second set, and Bagnis was able to serve out to take a two set lead.
Bonzi had his chances in the third set, squandering to break back opportunities. In the end though the pressure proved too much for the wildcard, he dropped his serve, and Bagnis was able to wrap up proceedings in his next game, despite saving three more break points.
Struff v Bagnis Prediction and Tip
Struff will believe he has an opportunity to go deep into this tournament now and will now want to slip up against a man ranked 62 places below him in the world.
