Casper Ruud v Alejandro Davidovich Fokina Head to Head

There have been no previous ATP matches played between Ruud and Davidovich Fokina before this. They did face off in a Next-Gen Final match, which Ruud won in five sets.

Ruud Mauls Majchrzak in Round Two

Norway’s Ruud showed who was the boss in his second round mauling of Kamil Majchrzak, as he registered a 6-3, 6-2, 6-4 win over his Polish opponent to seal his best-ever performance at French Open

The world number 16, who has made it to third round in each of his previous three outings at Roland-Garros, needed less than two hours to get there after earlier having been stretched by Benoit Paire in his opener.

Ruud was in no trouble in any of the three sets except for a brief lapse in focus in the third when he lost his 3-0 lead with two breaks of serve to Majchrzak. He was over it quickly though as he broke right back in the ninth game of the set before serving it out to win the encounter.

This victory gives Ruud a 17-4 win-loss record on clay for this season. A title at Geneva has been a high-point but so have been his semifinal appearances at the Monte-Carlo Masters and Madrid Masters.

Now to try and find a way to an elusive fourth round appearance in Paris.

Davidovich Fokina Escapes Van De Zandschulp Comeback

When Davidovich Fokina had taken a two sets to love lead against Botic Van De Zandschulp in his second round match, an early finish looked most likely.

More so when Davidovich Fokina broke his opponent to go 3-1 up.

All of a sudden though, the match turned around with Davidovich Fokina losing focus and in turn his serve. Broken in the sixth game, the Spaniard then missed four chances to break again across two games and then dropped his serve in the 12th game of the set.

If one thought that faltering was an aberration, the fourth set turned out to be an even worse experience for Davidovich Fokina as he lost his serve twice to lose the set.

Fortunately for him, an early break in the fifth set settled him down quickly. While he missed out on a chance to solidify that advantage with a second break in the third game, the Spaniard managed to come through in the match that fell a few minutes short of going into the fifth hour.

Ruud v Davidovich Fokina Prediction and Tip

While Davidovich Fokina would have been expected to give Ruud a fight, his morale might have taken bit of a dent after that second round showing. Expect Ruud to win and at the most drop one set.
