Pablo Carreno Busta v Steve Johnson Head to Head
The head-to-head between Carreno Busta and Steve Johnson is tied at 2-2. The last of those matches came in 2018 in the semifinals of Winston-Salem in which the American won in straight sets.
Their lone meeting on clay before this went in Carreno Busta’s favor. The Spaniard won a second-round match in Rome in three sets.

Busta Overcomes Slow Start
Pablo Carreno Busta confirmed his spot in third round of Roland Garros after overcoming a slow start to beat France’s Enzo Couacaud in four sets in almost two and half hours.
The Spaniard looked shaky from the getgo, as he dropped serve twice, and won a modest nine out of 29 receiving points. Couacaud who was a suprisingly 11/1 odds to register an upset sealed the first set 6-2 in just half an hour.
The 26-year-old French wild card reached the finals of Biella Challenger less than two weeks ago, losing to Thanasi Kokkinakis. And he was prepared to go toe-to-toe with the World No. 12 for a considerable period in this match. But midway through the second set, Carreno Busta made his move to garner his first break of service.
It was all the Spaniard needed to summon his moxie and precision for the rest of the match. Couacad kept it really close in the end, but at this stage it is tiny margins and decisive moments which separate the top 100 from the rest of the field.

Johnson Plays In Another Five-Setter
This has been some week for Steve Johnson. The American came to the French Open without a single win of any note since the start of the year.
But whatever hardwork Johnson has done behind the scenes pre-Roland Garros, has most certainly been of great benefit.
Johnson could have quite easily packed his bags while trailing compatriot Frances Tiafoe by two sets to love in the opening round. But the beauty of Best of Five sets match doesn’t mean all is doom and gloom after losing the first two sets.
The 31-year-old turned a corner and won the next three sets to upset Tiafoe. And he backed that win with another five-set victory over Brazil Thiago Monteiro, winning 6-3 6-7 7-6 3-6 6-3.
There were fine margins in this match and Monteiro could have swung the pendulum in his favor. Johnson fired 61 winners to Monteiro’s 60. One service break was the difference-maker in the end, Johnson garnered seven, while Monteiro managed six.
Carreno Busta v Johnson Prediction and Tip
Steve Johnson has done remarkably well to get to this stage, but he may well have plotted his own downfall in this match. After the emotional and physical battle of playing back-to-back five-set matches, he could come unstuck against Carreno Busta’s grinding tennis.
Tip: Carreno Busta to win in straight sets: 11/10 (Click Here to Bet with bet365)
