Yannick Hanfmann v Dennis Novak Head to Head
The only time these two faced off before this was in the qualifiers of the 2020 ATP Dubai and Novak had won that match in straight sets.

Hanfmann Finally Does Something of Note
After a string of poor results for Hanfmann, he finally managed to get going at Bastad last week where he reached the semifinals before losing to Federico Coria.
Hanfmann’s achievement was made more special by the fact he won three successive matches in a tournament for the first time this season. That he won all of them, against Thiago Monteiro, Jiri Vesely and Arthur Rinderknech in straight sets was highly commendable.
What this result does is it allows Hanfmann to break back into the 100, inching back towards his best ATP ranking of 92.
A solid follow-up to that showing in Bastad with a performance to remember in a tournament where Hanfmann has made the final once before in his career, could drive him forward here.

Novak’s Not Won a Match in a While
It was in Montpellier in February that Novak last won a main draw match on the ATP circuit. He had reached the quarterfinal there before going down fighting to Peter Gojowczyk.
Since that result, Novak’s been a part of 10 tournaments, many of them at the qualifier level but he’s either failed to make it to the main draw of those tournaments – including at French Open and Halle – or even on that rare occasion when he did get there, the Austrian has fallen at the first hurdle.
It does make it a lot worse for Novak that not too many of his defeats have come against very high pedigree players. For instance, Novak’s coming off an opening defeat in Bastad to Pedro Martinez, falling to Steve Johnson in Wimbledon and Ricardas Berankis in Halle.
And that is also why it should come as no surprise he is a second favourite to win this against Novak.
Hanfmann v Novak Prediction and Tip
We will have to go with the trend here which has Hanfmann start off as a favourite. With his semifinal appearance last week and the manner in which Novak has played backing the favourite to win this.
