Anhelina Kalinina v Ekaterine Gorgodze Head to Head
They met once at an ITF event in Orlando this year with Kalinina winning in straight sets.

Kalinina Looking to Build on Budapest Success
After having made a name for herself at the lower-level tournaments, Anhelina Kalinina is now making an impression at the highest-level and a run to the final in Budapest indicates just that.
Although, with most of her successes coming on clay, it will be interesting to see if she can deliver similar results on other surfaces as well. But that’s for something to look for in future. Right now she heads to Poland for another clay court WTA 250 event.
Kalinina, who has looked invincible on the ITF Circuit this year, comes to Poland on the back of a maiden WTA final in Budapest last week. However, she will be a tad disappointed to have missed out on a first WTA title, going down in straight sets to Kazakhstan’s Yulia Putintseva.
The 2014 U.S. Open girl’s singles finalist has won 14 ITF titles, 13 of which have come on clay. She has been a player to beat on the ITF Circuit this year, featuring in four finals, all of which were clay court events, and she won all four of them.
The Ukrainian also made her main draw debut at the French Open this year and caused a massive upset by dumping out Angelique Kerber in the first round.
The 24-year-old, who broke into the top 100 for the first time this year, now sits on a career-high ranking of 80, a big leap from her year-end ranking of 162 in 2020. With the aim of delivering consistently at the top level, Kalinina will be hoping to make another deep run in Poland.

Gorgodze Not in Great Touch
Ekaterine Gorgodze has mostly featured at the qualifying and lower-level tournaments this year. She did qualify for the main draws of three WTA tournaments, but is still looking for her first win. Most recently, she faced a straight sets defeat to Yulia Putintseva in the first round in Budapest last week.
The 29-year-old Georgian, who hasn’t played much on the tour, has struggled to put up impressive performances at the ITF Circuit of late. She has won 16 titles at that level from 30 finals, but none since 2019 and has made the semifinals only once this year.
A clay court specialist, Gorgodze, who is ranked 208th in the world, reached a career-high ranking of 144 in 2019.
Having qualified for the main draw in Gdynia with straight sets routs of Martyna Kubka and Amina Anshba, she now faces the challenge of winning her first tour-level main draw match of the year. However, give Kalinina’s form, it seems her wait may continue for now.
Kalinina v Gorgodze Prediction and Tip
Kalinina has been in terrific form and it will take a massive effort from Gorgodza to beat the eight seed. Expect the Ukrainian to win in straight sets.
Tip: Kalinina to win in straight sets: 8/15 (Click Here to Bet with bet365)
