Marketa Vondrousova v Mihaela Buzărnescu Head to Head
There have been no previous matches played between Vondrousova and Buzarnescu before this.

Vondrousova Needs Three Sets against Bertens
Given Kiki Bertens’ form, it wasn’t too surprising to see Vondrousova start off as a favourite to win her opener. But while she did win it, Vondrousova was stretched to a third set by her Dutch opponent.
In the end, Vondrousova came through 6-4, 3-6, 6-4 to reach the second round, needing nearly two hours to get there.
Interestingly, both players broke the other’s serve thrice in the match but it was Vondrousova’s decisive break in the decider that helped her win. This was after she withstood a barrage of winners from her opponent – 26 of them – but was aided in no small way by Bertens’ 39 unforced errors.
Vondrousova has had a decent season on hard court surfaces before this, having made it to the semifinal at Yarra Valley Classic and the fourth round at Australian Open too.
And while she didn’t have a great time on grass in the lead-up to this, Vondrousova will hope she can get more convincing in the lead-up to a potential third meeting with Naomi Osaka.

Buzărnescu Scrapes Past Riske
Not that Buzarnescu was a favourite coming into her opening round match against USA’s Alison Riske and once she fell a set behind her opponent it looked like an uphill battle.
But it was a battle she managed to carve out and win, defeating Riske 6-7 (0), 7-5, 6-4 in nearly three hours to make it to the second round.
Buzarnescu had the early break but not only did Riske break back and push it into a tie-breaker but also routed her opponent to love in that one. Another exchange of breaks followed soon after but it was in the 11th game of the second set that the Romanian managed to get a decisive second break that helped her serve out for the equaliser.
And while there was an another early exchange of breaks in the third, Buzarnescu made it through with a break of serve in the fifth game of the final set to finish off the encounter.
Can she cause another surprise though?
Vondrousova v Buzărnescu Prediction and Tip
The former French Open finalist Vondrousova is a heavy favourite here at 3/10 but we expect Buzarnescu to put up a fight even if it’s a straight-set win for the Czech.
Tip: Vondrousova to win in straight sets: 4/5 (Click Here to Bet with bet365)
