Danielle Collins v Elena-Gabriela Ruse Head to Head
They had faced off as recently as Hamburg Open earlier this year and it was Ruse who came away a winner in a tough three-setter. Can she make it two in two?

Having returned from a surgery earlier this season, Collins has been in some solid form since that Hamburg Open defeat at the hands of Ruse. There she had lost her second match of that tournament but since then Collins has won seven of her next eight encounters.
And what’s even better news for the American is she is yet to drop a set in any of those seven.
Her latest victory came against Chinese player Shuai Zhang, beating the veteran 6-4, 6-3 to reach the final. She was on court for an hour and 17 minutes in that encounter, breaking Zhang three times while losing her own serve just once.
In fact it was Zhang who won herself the first break of the match in the fifth game of the opening set but Collins then levelled things up in the eighth game and then won the 10th to clinch the set. And once she had raced away to a 3-0 lead in the second, the writing was on the wall.
Now to see if Collins can overturn her previous result against Ruse.

Ruse Gunning for a Top 100 Spot
When she walked into Hamburg Open on the back of a second round defeat at an ITF competition in Montpellier, Ruse was in the danger of crashing out of the top 200 on the WTA charts.
Two weeks on, she is one win away from breaking into the top 100 for the first time ever. And even if she doesn’t win this final, Ruse will enter the new week ranked 105th in the world – her career-best ranking by some distance.
What has changed?
First, in Hamburg, Ruse came through the qualifying rounds to make the main draw and lift her first ever WTA title. And a week later here in Palermo she is on the verge of making it a shock two tournament wins in a row.
It needed her three sets in the semifinal, coming back from the loss of the first set tie-breaker against Oceane Dodin before she won 6-7 (4), 7-6 (0), 6-1 to seal her second successive final.
Can she also beat Collins twice in two weeks now?

Collins starts off a favourite with odds of 1/2 for her victory which is incidentally what was on offer the last time these two players met. We believe this time around Collins will have her day under the sun and come through. Might need three sets though.
