Sara Sorribes Tormo v Fiona Ferro Head to Head
There have been two previous meetings between these two players before this including in the qualifying stages of the 2019 WTA Hobart International and both times, it’s been Ferro who has emerged a winner.

Sorribes Tormo Ends Barty Party
Ash Barty, the world number one and Wimbledon champion, had come into this tournament as a favourite to win a medal. May be even a gold. Spain’s Sorribes Tormo ended her party quite early in the competition.
This isn’t to say Sorribes Tormo isn’t a tough opponent, especially in the opening round a competition.
The 48th-ranked Sorribes Tormo had had a solid season on hard court earlier this season, having lifted her first ever title on the circuit on that surface in Guadalajara, while making the semifinal in Monterrey and quarterfinal in Miami.
But to expect her to not just defeat Barty but to do that in the manner she did would have sent some shockwaves in the draw. Her 6-4, 6-3 win over Barty in an hour and 35 minutes saw her break Barty five times in the encounter while losing her own serve twice.
At no point was Sorribes Tormo in any danger of losing the match, and all of a sudden her performance here makes her a dark horse for the rest of the tournament.

Ferro with a Surprise of Her Own
Ferro had gone into her opening round match against Anastasija Sevastova at 6/4 to win it and those odds lengthened considerably when she lost the first set and was down two breaks in the second.
For the Frenchwoman to then turn things around and win her opening round match against her Latvian opponent was commendable, helping her register a 2-6, 6-4, 6-2 win in two hours and 13 minutes.
It was a surprise in more ways than one. Not only is Sevastova a better player on hard court surfaces than Ferro, the Frenchwoman had won just two of her previous five matches in hard court tournaments.
For Ferro to then come back from 2-6, 0-3 with Sevastova serving at that stage, would be the kind of confidence-booster she would love to carry into the second round.
Sorribes Tormo v Ferro Prediction and Tip
Sorribes Tormo is 1/2 to win this and we reckon she should have not a lot of worries to not just win it but to do that in straight sets.
Tip: Ferro to win in straight sets: 6/5 (Click Here to Bet with bet365)
