Mihaela Buzarnescu v Kristyna Pliskova Head to Head
Buzarnescu beat Pliskova in their only meeting before this on the clay of Prague in 2018. She dropped just five games in that quarterfinal match where she would go on to finish runner-up at the event.

Buzarnescu Holds Off Arruabarrena
Sometimes the adrenaline of playing on home soil is unmatched. And that has worked in Mihaela Buzarnescu’s favour this week. For the first time since 2019, the 33-year-old has managed to string back-to-back wins on the WTA tour after following up her first-round win over Viktoriya Tomova with another straight-set tussle against Lara Arruabarrena.
Buzarnescu is also the only Romanian player left in the singles draw, and she may never have a better chance of adding to her trophy cabinet -which only includes one title won in San Jose in 2018.
The former World No. 20 was pushed hard by the tenacious Arrubarrena. Buzarnescu won a seesaw opening set in which both players struggled immensely to hold serve. There were four breaks (two apiece) in the first seven games. But it was the home favorite who nudged ahead on the scoreboard when she broke for a 5-3 lead and served to love to put the set to bed.
The second set was destined to be decided in a tiebreak particularly when Buzarnescu managed to wipe away a set point and held for 5-5. But the Spaniard didn’t come to terms with her failure to convert that set point and was broken in the subsequent game, leaving the Romanian with an opportunity that she did not let pass.

Pliskova Beats Kawa for Second Quarterfinal of 2021
After a torrid first half of the season, Kristyna Pliskova has been in decent form in the past two weeks. Now, the Czech power-hitter has reached back-to-back WTA quarterfinals after beating Katarzyna Kawa of Poland 6-4 6-4 – in a mirror scoreline of her first-round win over Martina Trevisan.
Kristyna- the twin sister of Wimbledon finalist Karolina Pliskova – smashed seven aces and won 60% first-serve points. But the most impressive number was her ability to save breakpoints under pressure. She snuffed away 16 out of 20 breakpoints on her serve, leaving her 28-year-old opponent deflated.
The 29-year-old Pliskova also won over 50% of return points, with her consistent flat groundstrokes keeping Kawa on the hook for most of the afternoon.
Can she reach her first semifinal since the Prague Open almost 12 months ago?
Buzarnescu v Pliskova Prediction and Tip
Pliskova has been clutch this week, saving a whopping 24 breakpoints in two matches. But she is unlikely to have so much success against a player of Buzarnescu’s quality. The Romanian has been immaculate on home soil and we are backing her to keep up this run for at least one more round.
Tip: Buzarnescu to win in three sets: 3/1 (Click Here to Bet with bet365)
