Trevisan Desperate for Hard Court Wins
Trevisan hasn’t won a match on the WTA circuit since the opening round of the French Open back in May, where she defeated Van Uytvanck in 3-sets. Furthermore, she has not once a tennis in over a month, so the Italian will be desperate to record a win in New York.
The 27-year-old currently a 7-20 W/L ratio for the year, winning just 2 matches on hard courts and suffering 9 defeats which has seen her drop outside the top 100.
The Italian has reached 2 quarterfinals on the challenger circuit throughout 2021. Her first quarterfinal appearance comes at an ITF event in Bol, where she defeated Zarazua of Mexico and Schmiedlova of Slovakia in the opening 2 rounds, dropping just 8 games. However, her run was ended by Bara, as Trevisan suffered a 2-6 7-5 6-0 defeat to the Romanian.
A month ago, the Italian also reached the quarters in Belgrade defeating Udvardy and Eikeri in the opening rounds before losing to Rus 6-1 6-4.
Trevisan arrives in New York desperate to find her best tennis on the hard courts, she will not have the crowd on her side, so she will be hoping she can use her left-handedness as a advantage, and advance to round 2.

Vandeweghe Seeking First Hard-Court Win of the Season
Coco Vandeweghe arrives in New York with zero hard court wins to her name, yet she has suffered six defeats. The American currently possesses a 9-12 W/L ratio for the year after posting an impressive grass court season.
The former top 10 player has not played much this year, which has seen her ranking collapse down to 160. However, Vandeweghe won 70% of her grass court ties this year and made it to the semi-finals of Birmingham all the way from qualifying, winning 5 matches in a row. She eventually lost in the semi-finals to Daria Kasatkina 6-2 6-4.
The 29-year-old also reached the 2nd round of Wimbledon, defeating Govortsova in the opening round before losing to Siniakova in 3 -sets.
Vandeweghe is up against an opponent also severely struggling on the hard courts, so this is a good opportunity for her to reach the second round in New York and set up a tie with either Bencic or Rus.
Trevisan v Vandeweghe Prediction and Tip
It is likely to be a close match between these two players, however, Vandeweghe explosive serve, and huge groundstrokes will likely be too much for Trevisan if the American is able to limit the unforced errors.
