Paula Badosa v Alison Van Uytvanck Head to Head
The Belgian won their only previous meeting in Karlsruhe in 2019.

Badosa Set for an Extended Stay in New York
One look at Badosa’s accomplishments this season and we know that the up-and-coming star has now established herself at the senior level and she’s only going to get better from here on. A Grand Slam title? Given her talent there is one in the future for sure, but most likely it will come on clay, a surface where she had a 17-3 record this season.
She won her maiden career title on clay in Belgrade, reached a first Grand Slam quarterfinal at the French Open, made a maiden appearance at a WTA 1000 semifinal in Madrid and reached another semifinal at WTA 500 in Charleston.
She hasn’t quite translated that clay form on other surfaces, but comes to the U.S. Open in good form, having reached the last eight at the Olympics and the Cincinnati Open.
Unfortunately, she had to retire from both the quarterfinals with an injury, but both the tournaments were an indication that she will be a force to reckon with in the last slam of the year.
Also, her run to the quarters in Cincinnati including wins over Aryna Sabalenka and Elena Rybakina, while her Tokyo achievement including a win over Iga Swiatek.
The 23-year-old, ranked No. 26 in the world, will be expected to spend more time in New York this time than her previous two years when she was knocked out in the opening rounds.

Van Uytvanck Is 1-7 at U.S. Open
The World No. 61 couldn’t bear the heat of Chicago, pulling out of her second round match against Marketa Vondrousova, but the Belgian should be ready just in time for her eighth U.S. Open.
Van Uytvanck has won just one match in her previous seven U.S. Open appearances, and another first-round exit seems likely on the cards. She will, however, look to draw inspiration from her win over Petra Kvitova in the second round of the Tokyo Olympics.
Reaching the Round of 16 in Tokyo was one of the two notable achievements for the 27-year-old this season, the other being a run to the quarterfinals in Nottingham.
At the ITF level, though, she captured her 12th title by clinching the crown in Nottingham.
