Felix Auger-Aliassime v Marin Cilic Head to Head

Auger-Aliassime Finally Has An Easy Outing

After having to dig deep in the first two rounds of the Australian Open, Felix Auger-Aliassime finally had an easy outing on Saturday, making quick work of Britain’s Daniel Evans to move into the fourth round of the tournament for the second straight year.

The ninth seed fired 16 aces, converted 6 of 7 break points and saved all three of the break points that he faced to send the 24th seed packing with a 6-4, 6-1, 6-1 win in one hour and 53 minutes.

It was a tough first set with the Canadian winning it with a break in the final game of the set. The momentum completely shifted towards Auger-Aliassime from that point on and the World No. 9 breezed past the Briton.

The 2021 U.S. Open semifinalist, had a tough start to the tournament, needing three hours and 40 minutes to win his opener against Finland’s Emil Ruusuvuori 6-4, 0-6, 3-6, 6-3, 6-4. His second-round match was an even longer affair and needed four tiebreaks before he battled past Alejandro Davidovich Fokina 7-6 (7-4), 6-7 (4-7), 7-6 (7-5), 7-6 (7-4) in four hours and 19 minutes.

Having led Canada to its maiden ATP Cup title to kickstart the new season, Auger-Aliassime will now hope to better his best-ever showing in Melbourne by reaching a maiden quarterfinal with a win on Monday.

Cilic Shocks Rublev

2018 finalist Marin Cilic stunned Andrey Rublev in the third round on Saturday to move into the fourth round of the Australian Open for the eighth time in his career.

With back-t0-back semifinal appearances in the two Adelaide tournaments leading up to the first Grand Slam of the year, Cilic has maintained his hot form in the tournament.

The win over World No. 6 Rublev was Cilic’s first against a top 10 player since he defeated Roberto Bautista Agut at the Australian Open in the third round in 2020.

In a high-intensity, emotionally charged contest, the Croatian displayed some sensational hitting, as he struck 55 winners and 24 aces against Rublev’s 38 winners and 17 aces. Cilic also broke the Russian four times in the match while failing to save either of the three break points he faced.

The Croatian improved to 7-2 in 2022 with Saturday’s victory. He began his campaign with a 6-3, 6-1, 6-2 win over Ecuadorean qualifier Emilio Gomez on Tuesday, and then saw off Slovakia’s Nobert Gombos with a 6-2, 6-3, 3-6, 7-6 (8-6) victory in the second round.

Auger-Aliassime v Cilic Prediction and Tip

Auger-Aliassime is the higher ranked player, but his record against the 33-year-old Croatian is a cause of concern. Cilic has dropped just one set against the Canadian in their three meetings and, having struck good form in Melbourne, it won’t be a surprise if he keeps his winning record intact against the Canadian.

Tip: Cilic to win: 6/5 (Click Here to Bet with bet365)
