Daniel Evans v Alejandro Davidovich Fokina Head to Head
Evans leads 1-0 at the tour level, having won in Stockholm last year. They also met in a qualifying round in Estoril in 2019 and that contest was won by Davidovich Fokina.

Evans Dumps Out Gerasimov
World No. 28 Daniel Evans had a solid start to the tournament as he dumped out Belarus’ Egor Gerasimov in the first round on Monday.
The fifth seed won 85% (29 of 34) of his first serve points, although he got just 59% of the first deliveries right, and didn’t face a single break point in the match, while breaking the Belarusian once in both the sets to claim a 6-4, 6-4 win in an hour and 33 minutes.
Following Monday’s win, the 31-year-old Briton is 7-2 in 2022. He won all three of his matches at the ATP Cup and was a semifinalist in Sydney before Aslan Karatsev halted his run. At the Australian Open, he could only reach as far as the third round before being beaten by Felix Auger-Aliassime.
The 31-year-old, who won his maiden title in Melbourne-2 last year, is making a third main draw appearance at the Qatar Open and is yet to go past the Round of 16. Last year, he was beaten by Roger Federer at this stage.

Davidovich Fokina Ends Three-Match Skid
He had come into the tournament on the back of three consecutive defeats, but the 22-year-old Alejandro Davidovich Fokina was always a favourite to end the streak against the World No. 303 Malek Jaziri and the Spaniard lived up to the expectations.
Dominating the proceedings from the start of the match, the World No. 47 dropped just one point on the back of his first serve and a total of nine points on his serve to beat the 38-year-old Tunisian 6-1, 6-3 in just an hour.
Davidovich Fokina didn’t face a break point in the match, while he converted two in both sets to get his second victory of the season. His first came over Alex Bolt in the first round of the Australian Open.
Having lost in the first round of his season opener in Sydney and in the second round of the opening major, the Spaniard made back-to-back first round exits from Montpellier and Rotterdam. He would be relieved to have returned to winning ways and will look to get consecutive wins for the first time this season and advance to the quarterfinals on his Doha debut.
