Andrey Rublev v Mackenzie McDonald Head to Head
McDonald shocked Rublev in their only previous meeting before this at the Australian Open in 2019.

Rublev Holds Off Kwon
For the second time this month, Andrey Rublev defeated Soonwoo Kwon, but the South Korean No. 1 ran him close this time in a three-set defeat.
Rublev, who was the last man to arrive in Dubai after his successful week-long stay in Marseille, had scored a fine win over Dan Evans in his first match. But he had a short timespan to prepare for his Round of 16 match which was scheduled in an afternoon on Wednesday.
And the Russian admitted to finding difficulty adjusting to the heat and the fast courts. Kwon took an early lead in the opening game of the first set when he broke a weary Rublev. The South Korean did not relinquish that fast start and went on to win the set 6-4.
Rublev’s response was swift and impressive as he came out all guns blazing. The second seed won the second set 6-0 and broke Kwon in the third to wrestle control of the match. The Russian world No. 7 has now won six matches on the spin and is holding his inch to reach another semifinal at the Dubai Tennis Championships.

McDonald Sees Off Krajinovic
Mackenzie McDonald has seen off another higher-ranked opponent this week to make the Dubai Tennis Championship quarterfinal for the first time in his career.
After ending Aslan Karatsev’s title defense in the first round, McDonald was tasked with the challenge of defying the odds again in his Round of 16 bout against Filip Krajinovic.
Things did not start too well for the World No. 61 who fell a double break in the first set. But Krajinovic had his own serving yips and he endured a terrible spell on serve in which he was broken three times to cede the first set in a remarkable turn of events.
And in the second set, both players exchanged breaks as momentum ebbed and flowed. Eventually, a tiebreak would decide mattes and it was McDonald who was a tad more consistent behind the baseline and converted on his sixth match point.
Rublev v McDonald Prediction and Tip
McDonald had a rough time protecting his serve in beating Krajinovic. It took a major implosion by the Serb to relinquish control of the match. Against a player of Rublev’s quality, the American is unlikely to be getting second chances.
Tip: Rublev to win in straight sets: 8/11 (Click Here to Bet with bet365)
