Miomir Kecmanovic v Jack Sock Head to Head

The pair have met once before in 2019 in Atlanta, Kecmanovic winning in straight sets, both of which went to tie-breaks.

Indian Wells Quarter-Finalist Kecmanovic

Former junior world number one Kecmanovic has a modest record in Miami, where he has never been beyond the second round.

However, the Serb who won his first senior career title on clay in Kitzbuhel 18 months ago, can take great heart from his performances in Indian Wells last week, where, for the second time in his career, he reached the quarter-finals.

During his run there, he came from a set down to beat Marin Cilic in the second round, and then overcame the challenge of the world number six, Matteo Berrettini, in the fourth.

He lost eventually to Taylor Fritz, the man who went on to claim the title in Indian Wells, but again he took the American to three sets.

Sock Comes Through Qualifying

Sock reached the quarter-finals in the singles in Miami in 2017, and has twice been a finalist in the doubles here, but that was back in the days when he was the top ranked American player.

However, several years of struggles with injuries and form have seen him drop out of the top 100, and, nowadays, he has to rely on either wildcards or subject himself to the rigours of qualifying to make the main draw of Masters events.

It was the latter case in Miami this time, but he will be boosted by the fact he has beaten two higher ranked players to earn his match with Kecmanovic.

First, he saw off Aleksandar Vukic of Australia the world number 126, before meeting a familiar foe in the shape of compatriot Steve Johnson.

Ranked 37 places higher than him, Johnson began the match clear favourite, but Sock dominated from the start, two breaks enough to give him the first set, and two more the second.

Kecmanovic v Sock Prediction and Tip

Sock is showing signs of a revival after several years in the doldrums, but Kecmanovic will be confident after his performances in Indian Wells and will be looking for another deep run in Miami.
