Aryna Sabalenka v Irina-Camelia Begu Head to Head
The two have never met previously.

Shaky Sabalenka Is 6-6 in 2022
Stunned by Jasmine Paolini in her opening match at Indian Wells, top seed Aryna Sabalenka would look to overcome the setback and start off with a win in Miami.
The 23-year-old hasn’t been at her best this year, with her dodgy serve letting her down on most occasions.
She has double faulted 127 times in her 12 matches this year and that’s precisely why she brings a 6-6 record to Miami. She seemed to have conquered the double fault issue in Qatar, making none in her second round match against Jil Teichman and just three in the defeat to Iga Swiatek in the quarterfinal, but in Indian Wells, she double faulted 10 times before falling to Paolini in the Round of 64.
A two-time Grand Slam semifinalist and 10-time champion on the tour, Sabalenka will be making her fourth appearance in Miami this year. Being the top seed, there will be huge expectations from the World No. 5, who made the quarterfinals last year in what has been her best in Miami so far.
With form not on her side, it will take some effort from the Belarusian to win the second round contest and if she can get into a good rhythm, she could well go deep in the tournament.

Begu Comes Back to Beat Baptiste
Romania’s Irina-Camelia Begu ended a four-match skid with a comeback win over the United States’ Hailey Baptiste in the first round of the Miami Open.
It took over an hour for the American to secure the first set, but the World No. 70 made a resounding comeback in the contest. She dropped just six points on her serve in the next two sets, didn’t face a break point again in the match, and converted two of five break points in the second set and three of seven in the third to win the contest 6-7 (6-8), 6-1, 6-1 in just over two hours.
A four-time champion and four-time finalist on the tour, Begu was a runner-up in Cleveland during a 17-15 season last year.
The 31-year-old began the 2022 season well, reaching the quarterfinals of the Melbourne Summer Set. She then fell in the second round at the Australian Open before making it to the final four in St. Petersburg. But a defeat in the semifinal to Maria Sakkari started a series of four consecutive losses, with Begu losing her opening matches in Dubai, Qatar and Indian Wells.
She ended the losing streak in the first round. Now can she win another and move into the third round?
Sabalenka v Begu Prediction and Tip
This should be a good contest, with Begu putting up a fight. But the top seed should eventually advance with a hard-fought win.
