Alcaraz Wins Tsitsipas Battle

Spanish sensation continued his strong run of form this season running into countryman Jaume Munar in the third round of the Barcelona Open. A clinical display by Alcaraz ensured a break of serve early in each set was all he needed for a 6-3, 6-3 win and a same day quarter-final against Greek Stefanos Tsitsipas.

Leading the head-to-head 2-0, Alcaraz was off to a strong start but so was the Greek with the first set on serve at 4-4.

A scintillating display on the return by Alcaraz saw him break Tsitsipas to 15 and hold to love to close the set 6-4.

The Spaniard ran away in the second set with a double break to lead 4-1 before his focus wavered and Tsitsipas broke twice to equalize.

With Alcaraz serving to stay in the set at 5-6, Tsitsipas upped the ante to break and close the set 7-5.Alcaraz again was the frontrunner in the third set to be up 4-0 with two breaks but with Tsitsipas again making a comeback, all were ready for another turn in the match.

The Spaniard did well to hold at 1-4 saving two break points and then finally serve out the match 6-2 to the excitement of his home fans for a spot in the semi-finals and break into the top ten of the ATP rankings next week.

Fortune Favors De Minaur

Aussie Alex De Minaur had a decent run on the hard courts earlier this year both Down Under and followed it with good performances at Rotterdam, Dubai and Indian Wells.

Coming to the slower clay, it has been an adjustment for everyone with a round of 32 loss last week to Andrey Rublev for the Aussie.

The tournament started with a bye and a tight match with Frenchman Ugo Humbert where de Minaur prevailed in the decider.

With much of Thursday washed out by rain, it was a lucky Friday for the Aussie with a walkover from Lloyd Harris after a 6-0 win for the de Minaur in the first set.

A tiring day for all involved ensued with two matches for everyone winning their first, but a more rested De Minaur ran into British number one Cameron Norrie.

After a convincing first set win for the Aussie, the Briton fought hard in the second and broke to close out the set 7-5 and head to a decider.

It was all De Minaur in the final set winning 6-1 breaking serve twice with ease and booking himself a spot in the semis.

Alcaraz v de Minaur Prediction and Tip

Both players have made the semi-finals following different paths, with a lot of the spotlight on the Spaniard. Expect a good contest with both exhibiting incredible athleticism. No surprises on who the crowd will be with though.

A good contest between young legs on the cards, but expect Alcaraz to win in two tight sets.

Tip: Alcaraz to win in straight sets: 8/11 (Click Here to Bet with bet365)
