David Goffin v Albert Ramos Head to Head
The pair have played each other before, at Indian Wells in 2019, Goffin winning in straight sets.

Having spent a number of years consistently part of the top 20 in the world, a loss of form saw the Belgian slip down the rankings, until he arrested the fall by winning in Morocco in April. His first tournament victory since March last year, and his sixth in all.
Given a wildcard into this event, he will feel that his world ranking would have been considerably higher had his quarter-final at Wimbledon – his fourth in all at a Grand Slam – not counted for nothing points-wise.
Since then he has played just the one match, which was against Jack Sock in the first round in Washington last week, losing to the American in straight sets.
His best result in Canada came in successive years, 2015 and 2016, when he twice made the third round.

Ramos Struggles Away from Clay
Ramos has never won a match in this tournament before on three previous visits, all of which have ended in first round defeats.
One of those Spaniards who are very strong on clay – he has won four senior titles, most recently in Córdoba earlier this year – he tends to struggle when the tour moves to other surfaces.
It is perhaps for that reason that he has stuck to clay since his first round defeat at Wimbledon, reaching the second round in Bastad, and the quarter-finals in Gstaad.
He was last in action in Kitzbuhel, where he reached another quarter-final before losing to compatriot Roberto Batuista-Agut in straight sets,
