Emil Ruusuvuori is a fast-improving player on the tour and that is evident from the constant gains that he has made in the rankings. Although he has slid two places from his peak of No. 42 achieved in July this year, he will be looking for a good U.S. Open campaign to start making his way up again.
Ruusuvuori has made two previous appearances at the U.S. Open, winning his opening round matches on both the occasions. However, he is yet to go past the second round. Could it be this year? Looks tough again. In fact, he may have trouble even winning his first round match as he has drawn a tough player in Jack Draper, who has enjoyed a great run this year.
If Ruusuvuori passes the first round test, he may have to deal with sixth seed Felix Auger-Aliassime, who has drawn a qualifier in the opening round.
The 23-year-old won’t be looking too far for now, and will focus on his first round match. he brings a 26-23 season record into the tournament. By far it’s been the best season for the Finn in terms of wins accumulated at the tour-level and also in terms of his best ever result achieved. He made it to his maiden ATP final in Pune earlier this year, only to finish runner-up. He also reached the semifinals in Melbourne and two other quarterfinals.

Draper’s Consistency Makes Him a Threat
World No. 55 Jack Draper has put up some really impressive performances this year. The 20-year-old Briton, who will be playing at the U.S. Open for the first time, is 13-8 on the tour in 2022.
He is coming off back-to-back quarterfinal appearances at the Canadian Open and the Winston-Salem Open respectively and will be one of the young talents to watch out for at this year’s event.
Draper, who was a semifinalist in Eastbourne, had beaten Stefanos Tsitsipas en route the quarterfinals in Montreal this month.
Most recently, he ousted Fabio Fognini and Dominic Thiem to reach the last eight in Winston Salem, but fell to Marc-Andrea Huesler in straight sets.
The British left-hander, whose only two Grand Slam appearances have come at Wimbledon, reached his first four Challenger finals this year and returned a 100% success rate in the finals. All four of those events were on hard courts, a surface on which he has thrived this year.
