Katarzyna Kawa v Astra Sharma Head to Head
The pair have never played each other before. This will be the first match between the Pole, who is 29, and her Australian opponent, two years younger.

Kawa Reached Career High Ranking Three Years Ago
Whilst Iga Świątek has been making all the headlines as far as Polish women’s tennis is concerned, Kawa has been plugging away on the ITF tour, where she has won seven titles and featured in eight more finals, the most recent of which was in May, where she finished runner-up in an event in Bonita Springs in the USA.
However, she has occasionally featured in the latter stages of tournaments at a higher level, and in 2019, she was runner-up to Anastasija Sevastova at the Baltic Open.
The following year she reached a career high singles ranking of 112, but is now just a periodic performer on the main tour, although she did make the second round of Wimbledon this year, having come through qualifying.
She was beaten in the first round of qualifying for the US Open, though.

Sharma Won in Charleston Last Year
Last year, Sharma won her first WTA title in Charleston, where she beat Ons Jabeur in the final, but their career trajectories have differed since then. Whilst the Tunisian finds herself fighting for Grand Slam titles, Sharma has seen her own world ranking plummet this year.
Having started the year 98 in the world, she now faces a battle to keep her place inside the top 200.
Like Kawa, the last time she qualified for a main tour event was Wimbledon, although in her case, her challenge was ended at the first round stage.
And, like the Pole, she too failed to qualify for Flushing Meadows, although she did get to the final hurdle before falling to the Swiss player, Viktorija Golubic.
Kawa v Sharma Prediction and Tip
Although Kawa is the higher ranked player, Sharma does know what it is like to win on the WTA tour. All she needs to do – although it is easier said than down – is challenge the spirit of Charleston from 2021.
Tip: Sharma to win: 5/7 (Click Here to Bet with bet365)
