Lorenzo Sonego v Gilles Simon Head to Head
There has been just one previous meeting between these two and it came on the clay courts of the Cagliari Open last year. Sonego was an easy winner.

Having come into this competition with a rather underwhelming record of just one second round appearance in the last six tennis tournaments, Sonego was an underdog in his opener against Aslan Karatsev.
In the end, however, Sonego came through to register a 7-5, 6-3 win in a match that lasted nearly two hours.
Sonego took a 3-1 lead in the first set, only to see that slip away when Karatsev broke back. However, soon after that, Sonego managed to break Karatsev as he served to stay in the set at 5-6, with the Italian winning to love.
Something similar happened in the second set too when Sonego went 3-1 ahead and for the second time in a row lost serve. This time around, however, Sonego broke Karatsev right back to wrap things up.

Simon Shocker for Goffin
Having fallen to 175th in the world, Simon is on the last legs of his tennis career and unsurprisingly, the 37-year-old had come into his opener at 14/5 odds to overcome David Goffin.
That’s exactly what he did as he carved out a 6-3, 6-3 win over the Belgian to move into the second round for the first time since June this year.
Simon was on court for an hour and 33 minutes, wrapping up the first set quickly and then overcoming being a break down in the second to clinch the win.
He will still find the going tough but against a player more known for his prowess on clay, Simon could give himself that chance.
