Miomir Kecmanovic v Dan Evans Head to Head

They played once before and Kecmanovic won that match.

Kecmanovic Rebounds in Tokyo

Miomir Kecmanovic suffered a bad loss in Seoul as he lost to Aleks Kovacevic who had his best event in the pros. The Serbian player rebounded well in Tokyo beating a strong albeit tired Yoshihito Nishioka. It was an interesting match as Kecmanovic dropped the opening set rather easily but held firm in the second set.

He crushed Nishioka in the final one but the Japanese player ran out of steam and simply could not keep up. Kecmanovic is not playing as well as he did earlier this year and it’s been a slow erosion since them. He has had some solid matches recently but nothing special.

The season is still a success at 35-22 but he’s not a relialbe bet anymore. This match against Evans will be a tricky one for him because Evans has the skills to frustrate him and play a type of match that he is not looking forward to playing.

Evans Survives Round One

Dan Evans complicated his first-round matchup quite a bit but he was able to win it in three sets. The Brit had a really strong week in San Diego but played a really poor match against Giron in the semi-finals. He then made his way to Seoul and lost quite easily to Nishioka.

Now it’s Tokyo and he is looking fairly solid albeit nothing special. In all fairness, Evans never really looks that special but he has a fighting spirit that frustrates a lot of players. His main weapon is extending rallies and the slice that can force errors.

It will be important for him to try and bait Kecmanovic into long rallies. Another important thing for him will be the serve as he will need to have it in order to win the match. He is 30-23 on the year and 19-12 on hard courts which is again solid but nothing special.

Kecmanovic v Evans Prediction and Tip

This is an interesting one with the odds indicating that Evans is a slight favourite. I tend to agree but I can’t trust him so I’ll back the over.
