Albert Raos-Vinolas v Marcos Giron Head to Head

The pair have played each other once before, and that was at the Paris Masters two years ago, Giron winning in three sets.

Ramos-Vinolas Happiest on Clay

Ramos-Vinolas has won four senior titles in his career, including the Cordoba Open in February, but all of them have been on clay.

His one hard court final, back in Chengdu six years ago, ended in defeat at the hands of Karen Khachanov.

His recent form has been mixed. The Spaniard reached three successive quarter-finals – in Gstaad, Kitzbuhel and Monte Carlo – but has not been beyond the second round of any tournament since.

That run continued last week in Kazakhstan with a first round defeat in the Astana Open at the hands of former world number one Daniil Medvedev.

San Diego Finalist Giron

Giron had been struggling to find the form that saw him reach four quarter- finals last year, and break into the top 60 for the first time.

All that, though, changed in San Diego, where he reached his first ATP final, beating Dan Evans along the way, before eventually losing to compatriot Brandon Nakashima in straight sets.

Prior to that his best recent result had also come on Spanish soil, this time on the grass of Mallorca.

There he reached the quarter-finals and, although he eventually lost, he did take Stefanos Tsitipas to three sets.

Ramos-Vinolas v Giron Prediction and Tip

Ramos-Vinolas has home court advantage, but Giron’s game is better suited to indoor hard courts and, if he can reproduce his San Diego form, he can be confident of advancing.
