Olga Danilovic v Kamilla Rakhimova Head to Head

There have been two previous meetings on the WTA circuit between these two and both have won once apiece. The first came in Belgrade last year where Rakhimova triumphed in straight sets but Danilovic then took revenge with a three-set victory in Palermo later in the season.

Rakhimova had triumphed in their two other matches as well – in the qualifiers of the 2021 WTA Melbourne and quarterfinals of an ITF event in 2019.

Danilovic Huffs and Puffs Through the Qualifiers

She wasn’t the favourite in either of her two qualifiers but Danilovic managed to make it to the main draw. It wasn’t easy either as both Misaki Doi and Harmony Tan took her to a third set before Danilovic showed greater resolve and fitness to come through.

For a clay court specialist that Danilovic is – she has all her six titles, including five ITF and one WTA on clay – these two victories in the qualifiers will go a long way in establishing some confidence in the player.

What makes it doubly special is this is Danilovic’s first tournament outside of clay this season.

Can she now tame her 21-year-old Russian opponent who seems more of an all-surface player.

Rakhimova Doesn’t Drop a Set in the Qualifiers

Unlike her opponent in this encounter, Rakhimova is coming off a solid showing in the qualifiers.

Also a winner of six titles at all levels – like Danilovic – Rakhimova crushed Oksana Selekhmetova 6-2, 6-2 and was on her way to doing the same to Oceane Dodin when her opponent retired from the encounter.

Rakhimova is coming off a first round exit at Monastir, and apart from her quarterfinal appearance in the Melbourne Summer Set 2 in January, hasn’t won successive matches in a hardcourt WTA tournament.

Can she reverse that trend here and kick things off with some confidence?

Danilovic v Rakhimova Prediction and Tip

Rakhimova is the bookmakers’ favourite to come through here and while she might need a three-setter, her experience on these surfaces is far greater for her to go down to Danilovic.

Tip: Rakhimova to win: 7/10 (Click Here to Bet with bet365)
