Iga Swiatek v Qinwen Zheng Head to Head
They had recently played in their only previous meeting which came at the French Open and Qinwen had made things difficult for Swiatek before the world number one came through in three sets to enter the quarterfinal.

After having won the title at the US Open, Swiatek had come into the Ostrava Open as an obvious favourite to add to her kitty of seven tournament wins this season. And she reached the final with reasonable ease, dropping her only set in the semifinal to Ekaterina Alexandrova.
Up a set in the title-decider against Barbora Krejcikova, Swiatek looked like she was following the aforementioned script only to be stunned by her Czech opponent.
Krejcikova came back to win the next two and the match, 5-7, 7-6 (4), 6-3 to grab the title from right under Swiatek’s nose.
That would have been a small blip in Swiatek’s radar who will come into this tournament as a favourite again and up against the lucky loser Qinwen, starts off a 1/3 favourite.
Swiatek will need to exercise caution here though with Qinwen having been the only played who had taken a set off her during her victorious French Open campaign.

Zheng Lucky to Be in Round Two
She is ranked 28th in the world, so for starters Qinwen shouldn’t have been playing in the qualifiers anyway but once she did, a second qualifying defeat at the hands of Maria Osorio would have been a shocker.
After all, Qinwen was a 1/5 favourite coming into that encounter.
The Chinese player still made it to the main draw following two withdrawals including Elena Rybakina, whom she replaced in her first round match against Garbine Muguruza.
She raced off to a 5-0 lead against Muguruza in that opener before the Spaniard also retired from the encounter because of a gastrointestinal illness.
Now up against Swiatek, Qinwen will look to take as much from that French Open encounter where she took the number one to a third set. Can she do it on indoor hardcourts?
Swiatek v Qinwen Prediction and Tip
Swiatek could have been a much bigger favourite than the 1/3 she finds herself at and that’s down to her opponent’s strong performances all year that have seen her rise from 126th in the world to 28th. Still expect Swiatek to romp to a straight-set victory.
